How to Design and Deliver High-Impact Meetings (1/3)

Most meetings fail before they even begin - because they’re poorly designed. In this 3-session course, participants will learn how to design meetings with clear purpose, the right participants, and outcomes that actually justify the time invested.

Session #1 focuses on the upstream work of meeting effectiveness: deciding whether a meeting is needed, what kind of meeting it is, and what must be different by the end of the meeting. Participants will leave with practical templates to design meetings that drive decisions, alignment, or progress, rather than vague discussion.

How to Design and Deliver High-Impact Meetings (2/3)

Even well-designed meetings can fall flat without skillful facilitation. This session focuses on the in-the-moment practices that keep meetings focused, participatory, and productive - without requiring the facilitator to be performative or overbearing.

Participants will practice concrete facilitation moves to open meetings well, manage time and participation, work with tension, and intervene when meetings drift or stall. The emphasis is on practical judgment: knowing when to step in, when to let the group work, and how to guide without controlling.

Power-Mapping Hour

Power Mapping Hour is a monthly, hands-on practice space for working with real conflicts, tensions, or stuck relationships. Participants use a simple power mapping tool to surface influence, constraints, and leverage points - creating greater clarity about what’s actually happening and where movement is possible.

The session is participatory and practical, with time to apply the tool to your own context and learn from others’ examples. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of a current challenge and a concrete next step for engaging it more skillfully.

How to Design and Deliver High-Impact Meetings (3/3)

Many meetings feel productive in the moment—only to evaporate afterward. This session focuses on what happens after the meeting, and how to ensure decisions stick, actions move forward, and learning accumulates over time.

Participants will learn how to close meetings with clarity, document decisions without over-documentation, and create lightweight follow-through systems that support accountability without bureaucracy. The session also introduces simple ways to learn from meetings and continuously improve how the team works together.

Feedback so far

Working in the non-profit and public service sectors, with a goal to create and nurture lasting social impact is extremely rewarding and fills a passion for so many.

It can also be lonely and uncertain work, often leaving leaders and teams with more questions than tools and answers.

The Ally Co.’s leadership development work has provided real-time thinking and tools to help my teams foster more collaborative, impactful, and healthy cultural practices.

Eryn Dewald

Talent Development & Learning Senior Advisor, Alberta Health Services

The Ally Co. facilitates open and reflective learning experiences, with practical exercises rather than a glossy deck.

They build a safe container, name hard truths without theatrics, and keep commitments.

For example, they helped our leadership team to establish clearer vocabulary to name the patterns we were living in, rebalance power through redefining roles, and to identify measurable progress and accountability.

Ian Frith

Founder & Principal, ForgeWorks Advisory Inc.

The session was incredibly well received and impactful for our Inclusion Leadership Council. The experience broadened our understanding of power dynamics, especially in traditional corporate settings.

The tools were practical and enlightening, and we’re already thinking about how to embed them into onboarding and leadership development.

Personally, it really helped me reflect on my own influence as a leader.

Ashley Popko

Inclusion & Belonging Manager, TC Energy

The Ally Co. did an exceptional job of creating a safe space for our executive leadership team.

They shared relevant tools, context, platforms for sticky conversations that allowed for things to be spoken about as they are.
